This is my first “Longest Day” event and I wanted to make it something that friends would love to do…make beer! As a lifestyle blogger for California Craft Beer & California Wineries (sippedincalifornia.com), I have been wanting to develop an event around creating a craft beer for Alzheimer’s. We will be creating our own labels and naming our brew all in the name of Alzheimer’s Awareness – and that’s what this day is all about – creating awareness!

We are the “Brew Crew for Alzheimer’s” and will be brewing under the guiding hands of the brewers at Yolo Brewing Company in West Sacramento. Our Brew Crew team consists of friends and family, all of whom have been touched by Alzheimer’s in one way or another. We will be promoting our event through social media, press releases and word of mouth.

Besides fund raising with email on “The Longest Day” site, we will have an awesome brew for Alzheimer’s supporters to take home – donations will be accepted – all going to the Longest Day & The Alzheimer’s Association.

The fun will be in the camaraderie, learning about brewing from Yolo Brewing Company, and yes, it is Father’s Day, so we will be celebrating with a few of our favorite Dads!

Keep an eye out, we will be posting our winning name, style, and label of our Alzheimer’s Awareness brew at the event!

<![CDATA[Leeza Gibbons Wins Celebrity Apprentice]]>Wed, 18 Feb 2015 23:42:28 GMThttp://halffullproductionsco.com/current-news/leeza-gibbons-wins-celebrity-apprenticePicture
In new York Donald Trump, named Leeza Gibbons as winner of season 7 of “The Celebrity Apprentice.” In the live finale, Geraldo Rivera faced off against Leeza in the boardroom.

As “The Celebrity Apprentice” winner, Leeza's designated charity received the $250,000 prize, which was added to the show’s $2 million total charity earnings for the season. Leeza Gibbons raised a total of $714,000 for Leeza’s Care Connection which is a place for caregivers to “Summon their Strength” and call on their courage when a health crisis hits in their family. It is a place to go for support, to ask questions, find resources and connect with other caregivers. A place where caregivers learn the importance of holding onto yourself while caring for someone you love.
Congratulations Leeza Gibbons!

<![CDATA[I'll Be Me at The Crest Theater Sacramento]]>Wed, 04 Feb 2015 19:45:59 GMThttp://halffullproductionsco.com/current-news/ill-be-me-at-the-crest-theater-sacramentoPicture
Starting strong 2015 is a great year for Alzheimer's awareness. Two great films emerged and are catching peoples attention - Glen Campbell I'll Be Me, & Still Alice staring Juliana More.

Last night we had the awesome opportunity of going to the private screening of I'll Be Me presented by the Alzheimer's Association. The audience consisted of State Senators, Assembly Members, Caregivers, Advocates, Family Members, and Walk Teams. Also in the audience were James Keach- Producer and Director, Producer Trevor Albert, & Executive Producer Susan Disney Lord.

After a warm welcome from Susan Galeas, President & CEO - California Southland Chapter, Alzheimer's Association, and acknowledgments from Susan DeMarios - State Policy Director, Alzheimer's Association, we had a special performance by Ashley Campbell & Shannon Campbell. Ashley and Shannon have performed as a duo, in concert with their father, Glen Campbell, and now in their solo careers. They sang Remembering, Gentle on my Mind, and Home.

A little about the film:

In 2011, music legend Glen Campbell set out on an unprecedented tour across America. They thought it would last 5 weeks instead it went for 151 spectacular sold out shows over a triumphant year and a half across America.

What made this tour extraordinary was that Glen had recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. He was told to hang up his guitar and prepare for the inevitable. Instead, Glen and his wife went public with his diagnosis and announced that he and his family would set out on a “Goodbye Tour.”

The film documents this amazing journey as he and his family attempt to navigate the wildly unpredictable nature of Glen’s progressing disease using love, laughter and music as their medicine of choice.

Special appearances include Bruce Springsteen, The Edge, Paul McCartney, Blake Shelton, Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Taylor Swift, Steve Martin, Chad Smith and Bill Clinton among many others.

Well, I have to say, there wasn't a dry eye in the house! This film was funny, extremely touching, and thought provoking. I loved it, and am so happy they made this film. It was amazing how Glen Campbell's mind thrived with music. He played a mean guitar, sang in perfect pitch, and was funny as hell! He may have forgotten who the first president was but never missed a beat with music. We must keep music alive. It does something extraordinary to the brain!

I am proud to be a part of making a difference with Alzheimer's disease, and to coin Maria Schriver, "Architects of Change". Let's all join to make a change!

Tune in to the Grammy's this Sunday to see Glen Campbell's song "I'm Not Gonna Miss You" nominated for Best Country song, a special performance by Tim McGraw, and The Band Perry is nominated for the Best Country Duo/Group Performance for Gentle on My Mind.
